Spears June 3, 2007 *Word is that San Antonio Spurs assistant general manager Sam Presti strongly impressed the Seattle SuperSonics during an interview for their GM opening last Thursday in Orlando. Word is the 29-year-old has emerged as the front- runner for the job. Washington Wizards director of basketball operations Tommy Sheppard, a former Nuggets director of media relations, is also in the running. *Word is Boston Celtics GM Chris Wallace could land the Memphis Grizzlies'GM job soon. Congrats to ex-Phoenix Suns assistant Mike Iavaroni on landing the coaching job. I'm curious to what the Grizzlies would have done with their coach and GM jobs if they landed one of the top two picks in this year's draft. *Word is that NBA insiders aren't surprised that the Cleveland Cavaliers had an embarrassing scoreboard malfunction since they are rumored to have the worst game night crew in the league. The NBA Finals games in Cleveland should be interesting. Maybe they will have to pull out those old-school junior high table scoreboards where you turn the score over like a page. So which NBA team has the best game night crew? That honor goes to the Utah Jazz. The Jazz's game night crew is a well-oiled, veteran machine that even works Rocky Mountain Revue summer league games together. *There was some confusion on my NBA Sunday page this week. Colorado State junior forward Jason Smith is actually being considered by teams in the upcoming draft that pick as high as seven. *Hey Cleveland natives, please give me some advice on what to do and where to go in my free time (i.e. great restaurants, nightspots, museums) in your hometown during the NBA Finals.
