The struggling Minnesota Timberwolves, the team that drafted him in the summer of 2009 when Rubio was still a player at DKV Joventut, certainly need a spark and maybe Rubio is the man to provide it. Rubio could go after this season but now is not the time, he says, to be making important decisions. In an interview with Catalunya Radio, Rubio reminded everyone about the terms of the contract he signed with Barcelona before the 2009-10 campaign after he'd been selected by Minnesota with the fifth pick in the NBA Draft. "I signed a six-year contract with an exit clause in the second year," Rubio said. "If I go this year, I would have to pay a figure and that's that. "It is a unilateral decision that I have to take although if I had to leave at some point, I would speak to the club and with the NBA franchise, that right now would be Minnesota." Rubio, who will play for Spain this summer and try to help the team book a trip to the London Olympics, will go to the NBA at some point in the future. He just doesn't know when. "I have an interest in going to the NBA but I'm not thinking of going right now,"he said. "To think like that would be a mistake and there would be no benefits for Barca, or for me. "I am in a winning team and I am having fun but I always have to look forward and play among the best. "To go to the NBA is a dream, any good Spanish player wants to follow Pau Gasol's steps because he is a great example. "Once the season is over, I will think about it and we will see." Barcelona have won the Supercopa and Copa del Rey this season, and they are first in the ACB standings with a 21-4 record. The club is also getting ready to square off against Panathinaikos in a best-of-five Euroleague quarter-final.
