3. Schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. How to judge a person’s performance of work is a great issue, especially when it comes to a teacher. The relationship between teachers and students is not an equal-power one. Therefore, to evaluate teachers by their students is always a hot topic to discuss. In my opinion, I do agree to ask students to evaluate their teachers. First, teachers can influent their students’ life dramatically. As everyone knows, students not only learn various knowledge and skills from their teachers, but also form their characters and behaviors through the interactions with their teachers. Thus, an improper teacher may destroy many students’ lives. A teacher with bad teaching skill may kill his/her students ’ interest in the subject. In a more seriously case, a teacher may force his/her students to do those should not be allowed, such as sexual harasses, and even destroy student’s life. Let students have chance to evaluate their teachers, at least can give a quite fair prospect for the teachers’ performances and would also be a good reference for schools. In addition to protect students from improper teachers, evaluation from all students on a teacher’s class is an effective way to give feedbacks about what they gained and what they need to their teacher. It is important for teachers to know if the teaching can fit his/her students’ need, if not, how can the teacher improve or change the way to explain the concept. The evaluation can provide rich information to teachers that common tests and daily interaction cannot show. Finally, by the process of evaluating their teacher, students have chances to learn how to judge a person adequately. They can learn that their opinions can also do something. They build up their esteem, and learn how to express their needs rationally. In sum, since there are at least such advantages to both teachers and students, I do agree that schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers.
