Grammar-checking tools are usually good at spotting simple mistakes, such as errors in verb tense, plurality, and incomplete sentences. These types of errors may just as easily be corrected by a person, although, granted, at a much slower speed. More complicated sentence structures lend to more complicated errors, where most tools may fail. I, for one, do not believe there is any one tool able to 1) identify all grammatic errors and 2) make the best recommendations (or sometimes, any reasonable recommendations at all) for revising your article. I think it is best to ask, or, if necessary, pay someone whom you trust to have adequate knowledge in your subject area and proficiency in English writing to help edit your papers. That being said, tools are available (usually at a price), and may be helpful to an extent. If anyone could recommend any software, please feel free to do so.
