标题[问题]生医作业:生医相关议题看法写作
时间Wed Mar 19 18:50:06 2008
Face to the Moral Debates of Biotechnology
The Vatican had asserted the new "seven deadly sins" recently. Now
scientists will offend God if they carry out morally debatable scientific
experiments, or allowing genetic manipulations which alter DNA or compromise
embryos.
Indeed,in most gene recombinant experiments, the scientists have no idea
whether those products, such as transgenic plants, medicines which are
produced by recombinant microorganisms, are harmful to the environment and
living things or not. To prevent excessive uses of biotechnology, the
assertion of the Vatican may be a good alert. After all, the results of
biotechnology misuses may be too dreadful to describe even to image.
The alert shouldn’t be an end of biotechnology, however. All the
scientists have to do is pay as much attention as they can, for fear the
misuses of biotechnology. It is no use denying the fact that people need this
technology to save or improve their lives. When a diabetic patient feels
uncomfortable, he’ll need to take medicines which are made by recombinant
bacteria carrying the specific gene. If scientists were all afraid of
offending God and being taken to the hell, those diabetic patients wouldn’t
have the efficient therapy.
Biotechnology has already become parts of our lives invisibly. How many
grains do the people of the whole world need a year? If the grains we grew
were easily killed by caterpillars and beetles, would there still be enough
food for the populations in earth?
In fact, the most disputable issues are not only the transgenic plants
that put native species in danger and lead to the proliferation of resistant
insects but the ethical questions of animal cloning, especially human cloning.
In my opinion, animal cloning is a wonderful thing, just like a mother
give a birth. Why the saccharomycetes can reproduce their species on their
own by cloning but we human can’t if the nature would accept our new
reproduction pattern as it accepts the saccharomycetes’?
The world is changing, and the reproduction patterns may change, too.
The living way and look that we have today are not the beginning patterns
as soon as we exist. A change is like a mutation in an individual. Not every
mutation do harm the individuals. All we have to do is wrestle for the
balance with nature.
