New York Post -
Sources have told the New York Post that the 2001-02 Coach of the Year Rick
Carlisle has agreed to terms to become the next head coach of the Dallas
Mavericks .
Carlisle had previously interviewed with Chicago and New York, with the
Knicks' interview coming only on Wednesday, before Dallas quickly swooped and
hired the former Piston and Pacer coach.
Dallas fired Avery Johnson only on Wednesday after the Mavericks fell in the
first round for the second consecutive season, this time to the New Orleans
Hornets .
