Marcin Gortat says the Magic told him after the season that they would not “hesitate” to add him in a trade to acquire a star player. That’s the biggest news according to my Polish journalist contact, Jakub Wojczy?ski, who covered Gortat’s media avail on Monday. Said Gortat, “Stan Van Gundy and Otis Smith told me that when they have chance to get big star, they won’t hesitate and will add me to this trade. But teams don’t get players to just put them on the bench. (On) another team, there won’t be second Dwight Howard and I will have twice bigger chance to play. It could be step forward for me.” Gortat was asked if he wants to stay with the Magic or have an opportunity for more playing time elsewhere. “I was thinking about this many times. It’s good to be on a team which plays almost to the end of the playoffs, even if you play only 8-10 minutes. But on the other hand I would like to play for a team when I’ll have chance to fight for starting 5 and for example, score 20 points, (which) is one of my dreams. So it’s hard dilemma.” Gortat said he plans on playing for the Polish national team this summer. “I’m 99% sure that I will play for national team this year. I will join them (July 20) after series of Marcin Gortat Camps for the kids. There is new agreement between NBA and FIBA and I’m not allowed to practice more than once a day at NT camp. I know all the set plays, I know most players and I’m physically OK, so there won’t be any problems because of joining NT late.” Gortat said in Orlando he wanted to be teamed with Dwight Howard more, playing power forward. “I’m working on my shot, because I want to be able to play power forward. In NBA, I take one shot in a game and miss it, but that doesn’t mean I can’t shoot.
