It's even less common when one taken out of high school does it, but that's exactly what Bundy accomplished in 2012. The Oklahoma prep product started the year in the South Atlantic League and finished it in Baltimore. Along the way, he showed an ability to throw several pitches for strikes. His fastball is easily plus, thrown up to 98 mph, and he maintains velocity deep into his starts with a clean and easy delivery. His curve should be at least above-average in the future, though he's still learning to throw it consistently. He has good arm speed on his changeup, which should be another above-average or better pitch. The Venezuelan's stuff was much better during his 2012 full-season debut, with a tailing fastball that should be above-average. His breaking ball is still a bit inconsistent, but it shows occasional sharp bite and his changeup has improved some as well. He's lean and lanky with some deception to his delivery. He generally throws strikes and if he can keep developing on this path, he has a future as a big league starter. He signed for pick value with the Orioles and is ready to use his projectable frame and stuff to move up the organizational ladder. Harvey has an above-average fastball that touches 94 mph and there could be more in the future as he adds strength. His curve and changeup, while not quite as advanced as his fastball, both have the chance to be at least Major League average in the future. Even in the Arizona Fall League in 2012, he played second, third and shortstop, his initial position when he signed. He has good actions defensively with good hands and a solid arm. Lean and wiry strong, Schoop is a line-drive hitter who will show occasional long-ball power. How he matures physically – he could get bigger and stronger – might determine his ultimate defensive home, though with J.J. Some see him as a future reliever because of his arm strength and some inconsistencies with his secondary pitches, but he can maintain his fastball velocity – he'll touch 95 mph – deep into his starts. His slider and changeup both have the chance to be Major League average, so there's enough to work with as a starter for the time being, knowing that the Orioles could shorten him up and have him help as a short reliever should the need arise. The key to the right-hander's future will be his command. If it can improve to Major League average, he has the chance to start. If not, he could end up reaching Baltimore as a reliever. Growing up in Maryland with parents who are Orioles fans, he has a chance to pitch for his hometown team. Kline pitched in a variety of roles at the University of Virginia, closing in 2011 and starting in 2012. Depending on his role, he'll throw his fastball up to 95 mph (in relief stints), though it tends to be fairly straight. He throws both a slider and a curveball, with the slider projecting to be a shade better and he also has a good feel for a changeup. It's that repertoire that has some believing he can be a starter. The main thing that could hold him back is a lack of command. As a reliever, his power stuff plays up and likely gets him to the big leagues faster, but the plan might be to let him try to develop as a starter first and see where it takes him. As a result, he gets compared to the Reds' Mike Leake frequently. It makes some sense: Davies was even heading to Leake's alma mater, Arizona State, before the Orioles went over slot to sign him. Like with Leake, most of Davies' stuff grades out as average, though his great arm action on his changeup gives it the chance to be above-average. His ability to throw that, as well as his fastball, curve and slider, for strikes, helps all of it play up. Hart profiles as a top-of-the-order catalyst, one who can use his excellent speed on both sides of the ball, stealing bases and playing a very good defensive center field. There's not much power to project, with Hart using a slashing slap-and-run approach with a short stroke to spray line drives to all fields. While he doesn't have light-tower power, he does have the ability to drive the ball. He's limited defensively, but should be adequate at first. Walker has shown toughness in the past, playing through a broken hamate bone through the College World Series in 2011. A solid defender with good speed, Marin has a decent feel for the game and good instincts, though it remains to be seen if he'll stay at short. He had a solid summer debut that included a brief stop with full-season Delmarva. If he can improve his approach at the plate and on-base skills, he could be a future top-of-the-order type hitter. Such was the case with Ohlman, the one-time Florida high school standout who hit just .224 in his first taste of the South Atlantic League in 2011. While some may have given up on him, Ohlman is a tireless worker and while it was a smaller sample size of 51 games, it does look like the big, strong backstop might be figuring some things out. He has the chance to be an average hitter with some power. Though he's big, he's agile and athletic behind the plate and threw out 38 percent of would-be basestealers in 2012. Progress was clearly made, whether it leads to more remains to be seen. He throws a heavy, sinking fastball along with a solid late-breaking slurvy type of breaking ball. He'll even mix in an average changeup at times. Gurka reached Double-A for the first time in 2012 and was following that up with a strong full season in the Eastern League, where he continues to miss a lot of bats and cause lefties fits. At the very least, he's a specialist, but he has the chance to be a solid middle or setup man in the future. Jones began his first full season pitching out of the bullpen in the South Atlantic League, but when he moved up to the Carolina League, he also moved into the rotation, making nine largely effective starts. Witih a long and lean frame, Jones throws his above-average fastball with a lot of cut and sink, generating a ton of ground balls. He backs that up with a wide slider and will show glimpses of a good sinking changeup as well. While he's generally a strike-thrower, he will need to improve his overall command as well as his breaking ball in order to have a chance to start. And while he lacks his former teammate's upside, Wilson pitched well in 2012, his first full professional season. He is an intelligent pitcher and mixes his four pitches well. Wilson's stuff is average. His fastball sits in the upper-80s with sinking action. His best secondary pitch is his changeup. Wilson's success is based on his control, which is among the best in the Orioles system. He will need to continue to paint corners as he moves to higher levels of the Minor Leagues. Belfiore had pitched in relief in college, but Arizona initially developed him as a starter before moving him back to the bullpen in 2011. When the Orioles got the lefty, they bumped him up a level and he responded well, striking out more than a batter per inning. He has average stuff which plays up in a relief role and he won't need more than average command coming out of the pen. Lefties hit just .160 against him in 2012, so at the very least, he has a long career as a specialist ahead of him. There's not much power to speak of, so he's going to have to hit to get there and he does project to be an average hitter. He's big, athletic and projectable and he's shown glimpses of having very good stuff. His above-average fastball has some sink and gets some groundballs while both his curve and sinking changeup could be average offerings. He also throws a slider, though it's slurvy and below average. Bridwell's biggest issue has been his command and control, and in some ways he took a step backwards in 2012. His youth, raw stuff and size are too much to give up on, but this will be a big year for him to get back on the right path. After drafting him in 2012, the Orioles gave him a chance to start, but they scrapped that plan in 2013. His fastball plays up out of the bullpen and has touched the upper-90s. More typically, Rutledge throws in the low- to mid-90s and mixes his fastball with a hard curveball. He throws from a good downhill angle and gets lots of groundballs as a result. Dating back to college, however, Rutledge has suffered from control problems, stemming from his extreme overhand arm action and unorthodox delivery. If he can improve his command, Rutledge would fit well into the back of a Major League bullpen. He played one season for the Trojans before transferring to Scottsdale Community College. The move brought him closer to home and made him eligible for the 2013 Draft. Tarpley impresses scouts with his stuff, pitchability and mound presence. He mixes his low-90s fastball with a curveball, slider and changeup. All three of his offspeed pitches are inconsistent now, but have the potential to become Major League-average offerings. He earns high marks for his athleticism, giving scouts hope he will be able to refine his stiff delivery. With some adjustments, Tarpley has the tools necessary to become a starter in the Major Leagues.
