Ultimately, Nuggets coach George Karl doesn’t just want Arron Afflalo on the
court, but he needs the starting shooting guard on the hardwood.

“He’s kind of my security blanket,” Karl said.

Lately, Afflalo has been the security blanket they can’t have. His strained
left hamstring has cost him nine of the last 12 games, and that number will
grow beginning tonight against Dallas. The question now, after he’s injured

are very frustrating to coaches. I think everybody knows Arron was playing
the most minutes of anyone on the team when he got hurt. Fortunately we’ve
been able to find other ways to win games. If we’ve got to cover Westbrook
and (Kevin) Durant we need Arron on the court.”

Asked if he was worried that Afflalo would not be 100 percent by the playoffs
– which start on April 16 and 17 – Karl said no. But he is worried about
Afflalo’s state of mind.

“I think he’ll be 100 percent physically,” Karl said. “I don’t know
about mentally. Anytime you’ve sat out the last 10, 15 games the confidence

little worried about that. People always ask us: Who’s our go-to guy? I
thought Arron would be a guy that we’d be letting shoot at the end of the
game a little bit. But, again, we just have to figure it out.”

Brooks kudos to Karl
Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks talked about Karl’s season, which he has
taken a team and navigated it through a storm of injuries and trade
uncertainty to integrating new players with still an ability to win 50 games
this year.
雷霆队教练布鲁克称赞卡尔有一个不简单的赛季，在历经伤兵和交易风暴之後，
仍然有机会能带领球队队取得50胜。
“George is a good coach,” Brooks said. “He can coach many different ways.
He can have five point guards and he’ll find a way to win. He can have five
fives – maybe not five fives – four fives and a point guard and he’ll find
a way to win. He makes no excuses. He just gets the job done.”

The Nuggets went 10-3 in the month of March. That was at least three more
wins than Karl thought his team might have in that month.

“I thought the month of March, if we would have won 50 percent of our games
it’d be a great month – and we win 10,” Karl said. “I didn’t expect to
win 10 in the month of March. I thought it was the first month that we could
have that could be a losing month, to be honest. The schedule was incredibly
difficult. We sustained our home games and stole some on the road and come
out with a 10-win month, which it gives us the ability to maybe have a 50-win
season.”

The 47-30 Nuggets are 2-1 in April going into tonight’s game against Dallas.
The Nuggets have registered an eye-popping 24 consecutive winning months,
going back to March 2007.

Karl said this run reminds him of the 2005 team he took over and led to a
32-8 record down the stretch of that season.

“When I got here the first time we would walk into (the Pepsi Center) – and
I don’t know what we did but, I mean, we beat people. We’d kill people. I

glad I’m being a part of it.”
