Speed 的突然离世，让助理领队 John Carver 最为震惊及伤心
John Carver 除了在担任 Sir Bobby 副手时，与当时是纽卡核心球员的 Speed 共事
也在 Speed 执教 Sheffield Utd 时担任其副手，二人份属好友。
"Gary was a very close friend and colleague of mine and I am absolutely
shattered by the news, it is totally devastating,"
Speed 在纽卡的好友不少，包括最尊敬的门将 Harper，也表示深切哀悼
"Gary was a great friend, the ultimate professional and will be sorely missed
by everyone. Our thoughts are with his family."
而 Given 就不用说了，他现在还在比赛，强忍泪水

Steven Taylor 对於这位当年曾指导他和一众後辈的伟大球员
他的离世是足球界的很大损失。
"When I was coming through the ranks he was the player that all the young
lads looked up to and he was always giving you advice and making sure you
did the right things. His loss to football is immense."
至於既曾是纽卡队友、是威尔斯国家队的队友、二人关系很好的 Bellamy
情绪受到很大打击，已要求利物浦把他排除在今晚对曼城的大名单。
