Roeder trying to keep quiet
By Mark Buckingham - Created on 22 Feb 2007
Glenn Roeder admits he has been trying to stay quiet about Newcastle
United's interest in Championship duo Gareth Bale and Curtis Davies.
The Magpies are currently assessing their summer transfer targets, and Bale
and Davies are on Roeder's short-list.
The Newcastle boss watched Bale in Southampton's defeat at Coventry City on
Tuesday, and saw Davies sent off in West Bromwich Albion's FA Cup draw with
Middlesbrough last weekend.
(啧啧,炮德你就是太容易被人发现)
Roeder insists he is not trying to unsettle the pair, but feels that such
is the lack of talent on show, it is clear which players he holds an interest
in.
"There are so few young players of a quality we're looking at that even
without me saying anything it's pretty obvious," commented Roeder.
"I don't like talking about another club's players. If I was their manager,
I wouldn't want other managers going into detail about my young players and
I've not done that.
(丫你就是没有Wenger的慧眼,加上你那两份墨守成规,当然买不到 talents~)
"There's always speculation about players we've targeted. All I've said is
any Premiership manager would be interested in those players.
"I don't want to say any more, I don't want to be taking calls from
opposing managers.
"There's not that many top-class young British players that might be
available. It's very hard to hide a good player, those whose talent is
generally what I call god-given.
(...是你自己留意不到吧)
"I've been more open than most managers, but I've never gone public on the
amount of players I'd like to bring to the club."
