这是一首现代的赞美诗,由女高音齐唱开始,接着各声部以不同歌词及旋律互相交错,歌曲
行进到中段由女高音和声带出庆祝耶稣降生的喜悦,接着各声部趋於平静,结尾在女高音的
齐唱.全曲如同一只队伍由远处行进,渐渐音量变大好似队伍迎面而来,最後又逐渐远去,但
欢呼之声仍不绝於耳.
歌曲开头的拉丁文荣归主颂(Gloria in Excelsis Deo)是一首用於基督教及天主教崇拜的
诗歌,是礼文的一部份。歌词是从《圣经·新约全书》的路加福音第二章14节衍出的赞词,
在二世纪中已开始流传，并由教宗史密高(498年-514年)最先把它放入重大节庆的崇拜之
中.
