The Legends defeated the Austin Toros, 135-112, scoring a league-record 84 points in the first half, placing the actual game, watched by 3,010 at Dr Pepper Arena, toward the forefront. "When you put up your money, your hope, your dreams and your vision and you actually see it come to fruition," Lieberman said, "the greatest thing you can have on a day like today is to cap it with a victory." In each of its first three games, Texas (3-1) scored 100 points or more. Onehundred looked reachable in the first half Tuesday. The run really began midway through the first quarter. Already up double figures, guards Justin Dentmon and Mavericks rookie Dominique Jones began scoring and leading the team in transition. Rashad McCants hit all five of his shots in the first half, and everyone else was almost as good. For the half, the Legends shot 77 percent from the field, 100 percent from the 3-point line and 74 percent for free throws. "We're just a bunch of guys who know how to play," McCants said. Whether that will be enough for a basketball team 30 miles up the North Dallas Tollway from the American Airlines Center to maintain interest is unknown, but the talent is certainly there.
