You may tell them "If ones are able to give, to be merciful, to cherish, to appreciate things in the world....etc without any obsession and addiction to them, it gets quite close how they could manage their heart in a wise way." Without addiction and being obstinate to any thought we might occur to, we could have already walked toward the right direction of reaching Samadhi of Vipassana (concentration and peaceful mind of insightful introspection). p.s. This is merely my personal comprehension with no substantial basis of real practice. You might not have to listen to my opinion and interpretation for this famous scripture. Please use it as a reference only instead of a solid proof for what Shykyamuni Buddha had lectured. I don't truly feel I am qualified to be the unbiased interpreter. What I have proposed here could only be viewed as facade conjecture of the true wisdom. Hopefully my immature ideas might be useful to you.
