以下为老师给所有学生的讯息全文:
**A new year, and new successes! **
Happy new year everyone – all of us at Cambridge EAP hope that 2017
is off to a great start and you’re all motivated and ready to overcome
this IELTS exam. New year, new start – let’s make sure it’s one full of
surprises and all of you reaching the next stage of your plans.
Again, we’d like to thank all of you that entered the Christmas
competition – very overwhelming! Two people were chosen and we’re
beginning to help those with advice from the heart of Cambridge
education. A new competition will be announced soon, so keep watching
and get your typing fingers ready! (That’s a hint!)
Clearly a lot of you have already been studying more and the feedback
we’ve been receiving about the advice and tips is fantastic. Keep it
coming and let us know about anything that’s been on your mind.
The more you talk to us, the more we can help you! It seems like writing
task 1 is especially a hit with you all, and that’s something we’re
looking at the show this coming Saturday.
More and more of you are clicking the “thumbs up” button and “Subscribe.
Keep it up! The more support we get, the more broadcasts we’ll do.
Not just covering writing, but also reading, speaking and listening skills
that are looked for by the examiners here in Cambridge. The more we know
about how we’re doing, the more we can change and get better.
This week’s broadcast is focused on writing task 1 and this time it’s a
challenging one because many of these questions exhibit data that isn’t
related to time; such as that you find in pie charts, tables and bar charts.
This means more focus on structure, comparisons, contrasts and the
language we’d expect you to use, and also parts of academic language
you can’t use! On top of this, we’ll be spending more time talking about
how to be focused in your writing, avoiding repetition and remaining on topic.
So, click on the link below:
https://www.youtube.com/cambridgeeap
…and, as we’re doing it live, you can leave a question in the comments and
2 or 3 of those will be answered in the broadcast. Don’t be shy! We’re doing
this for you and if we can help, we will. If you’ve missed any of our other
broadcasts then you’ll also find them here. But wait, there’s more!
Materials for the first four shows are here:

http://bit.ly/Live_from_Cambridge_Session_2 - writing task 2 question types and structures
http://bit.ly/Live_from_Cambridge_Session_3 - writing task 1 -
time charts and body paragraphs (how to choose and write those all-important features)
http://bit.ly/Live_from_Cambridge_Session_4 - writing task 2 -
thesis (agree/disagree) questions, how to identify opinions and write introductions
This channel is our home, so you’re all invited to come along, put your feet
up, relax, hit the subscribe button, and as soon as the next show is being
broadcast live, you’ll get an email letting you know. How cool is that?
Keep up the good work, don’t let IELTS get you down, and hope you can all
feel a little warmth (in all this cold weather) and cheer from us here based
in Cambridge!
If there’s anything we can do to help, we always will!
Happy new year – let’s make it a special one!x
