Defoe blow for Spurs Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe is set to miss the busy festive period after picking up an injury in the draw at Middlesbrough. Defoe, who came on as a second half substitute at The Riverside, was forced off late on after appearing to twist his ankle. The former West Ham star is expected to be sidelined for a couple of weeks with the problem and he is likely to miss the Christmas and New Year programme for Spurs. "Jermain twisted his ankle and could be out for a couple of weeks," said Tottenham boss Martin Jol.
