The main topic the class wanted to know about was his use of Ugetsu monogatari in his Umibe no Kafka. He responded that he had read a juvenile edition of Ugetsu while sick at home when he was around 10 years old, and that from that time on, he became an avid reader of Akinari. We learned that his favourite Akinari work is "Nise no enishi", in Harusame monogatari. I mentioned that Enchi Fumiko had also written a story "Nise no en, shui", but he didn't seem aware of it.
