It's funny how poeple began passionately loving certain things and end up educating themselves that's not what they really want. It's like a curse in our bone. We'll be performing tomorrow at Underworld with a wonderful band called "Boyz & Girl" (it's quite interesting we used to be boyz and girl as well when we first began this band) I remember loving this venue when I was much younger. in our early days, the underworld was our main base of performing live. we learnt to avoid electric shocks and step on the broken flooring. I love using that orange skinned marshall amp and struggled to make the little peavy one sound fine. That's all back in 2004 with younger levon standing right beside me and the smoky-eyed pa drumming from behind. I always wondered how it sounded from behind but never had a chance. The lighting system make you blind from your audience, given the fact that you literally had zero distance from them. there were just little halos around where you performed. this circle was never compulsive but people followed it accordingly as if there were something there: a line that separates. With the faded eyesight and this invincible cage, we actually no more than those china bear in the zoo, but this make you safe. This is more like a public solitude being shaped in its most perfect form, you were indeed surrounded but still internally solitary. And this is the feeling making me want to perform again and again. But somehow with the reason that I refuse to fully understand, maybe with the age grew and the scene changed, our music stuck in this same sort of magical halo with a boundary that is no longer that easy to cross. the worst part is people seem to be okay with this. And generally I was converted to be one of them. And no longer I feel the same kind of solitude on this tiny zoom, it's now so much connected. it is something like how you forgot your first kiss or the first time you let your scooter roll in its full speed on a windy night. You knew it so well that's never coming back. I, for one, was then so much longing to be like a metronome; too afraid of losing control and thus too restless to really know what the feeling was. I guess it's a sign of getting old. Then my eyes greened all the time of those who's never been bothered by this.
