[It should be said that women's low wages precluded : economic independence.] Nevertheless, the industrious revolution may have : moved some forms of material wealth to women. : Q: : The primary purpose of the highlighted sentence(用[]的部分) is to : 求教！ GRE 的阅读题目类型不多，一般来说，主旨题、细节题、推论题就占 了至少 80% 的题目。而本题是「目的」类考题，在剩下的两成考题 中属於主要类型考题。 解目的题的方式要注意： 1. 不要多看无用资讯，除非对於背景不熟或是解题真正需要，否则 应该尽量以题干句以及前一句为解题主要资讯来源。 2. 目的题至少 90% 的答案都在题干句的前面，所以除非真的有需要 ，不要从题干句的後面找答案。 3. 精读题干句以及所需的其他句子 (通常就是前面一句)。 解题说明： 1. 这篇文章总共 6 个句子，题干问了第 5 句的目的。 2. 解题时，第 1-3 句是基本资讯，有被考到的就仔细看，如果只是 要解本题，则大约看过，知道大概内容就好。万一有需要时再回 头细看。 3. 精读第 4 句：所谓精读，在我教学中，是指用精确的中文翻译将 题目意思确实理解。关於精确中文翻译的解题好处，以及如何眼 睛看到哪里，中文翻到哪里的技巧，我在「阅读快忆通」这堂公 益课程中，花了 3 个小时仔细说明，对於单字量不差，但是阅读 速度不快，又会读错的人，会有立即的实质提分效果。这堂免费 公益课随时提供同学，有需要的同学可以联络我们。 第 4 句：De Vries advocates differentiation among household members in assessment of the consequences of this industrious revolution, arguing that it increased women's economic power. 精读：「 De Vries 主张，要区分家庭成员在评估这场勤勉革命 的成果，他认为，勤勉革命提升了女性的经济能力。」 提醒一声，虽然将 industrious (勤勉的 )看成 industrial (工 业的 )，而把「勤勉革命」看成「工业革命」，对於此处解题没 有什麽影响，但是在填充题里，可能就会有致命後果。 4. 精读第 5 句： 第 5 句：It should be said that women's low wages precluded economic independence. 精读：「我们应该说女性的低薪使其经济无法独立自主。」 5. 思考重点： (1) 两句主词不同：第 4 句主词是 De Vries，内容是 De Vries 的主张；而第 5 句的主词是 It，在文法上是先行受词，其 同位语内容是後面的 that... 子句。 (2) 第 5 句内容明显是作者的主张，论点则是反对前一句中 De Vries 所称的「勤勉革命提升了女性的经济能力」。作者认 为，就算是女性的经济能力有提升，也绝对没能达到能够经 济独立自主的程度，而原因就是薪资太低。 (3) 所以在看答案之前，我们可以说第 5 句推翻了 (或是部分推 翻了) 第 4 句的主张。 6. 选答：选答的技巧与看原文的能力一样重要，常有人原文看懂但却选错答案。 (A) imply that an important fact has been overlooked by most historians (B) call the reader's attention back to a fact introduced at the beginning of the passage (C) explain why the author rejects a particular explanation for a historical change (D) caution against overestimating the implications of a particular historical change (E) challenge the evidence used for supporting an argument described earlier in the passage (1) 目的题的答案与主旨题的答案很像，通常一开头就是动词， 如果可以，先用动词消掉不可能的答案，进一步，可以用动 词＋受词的组合再消掉一些答案。 比方说，答案 (C) 开头是 explain，这个答案应该可以直 接消掉。 再来答案 (E) challenge the evidence，也可以消掉。因 为第 5 句要 challenge 的是结论，不是证据。 (2) 剩下的三个答案： (A) imply that an important fact has been overlooked by most historians 光是最後的 most hisorians 就错了，因为第 5 句针对的 是 De Vries。 (B) call the reader's attention back to a fact introduced at the beginning of the passage call the reader's attention 没问题，但是看到 back to a fact 就知道错了，因为第 5 句推翻的是前一句的结 论，不是事实。就算原本没有看过前 3 句的内容，也千万 不要回头去看前 3 句说些什麽，用点逻辑想想就知，这样 做一定浪费时间。 (3) 最後是正确答案 (D) caution against overestimating the implications of a particular historical change 「提醒大家注意不要高估了某个历史改变的影响」，选答之 前先将答案内容作配对，对得上就可以选。 (a) caution against overestimating 没问题，因为第 5 句反驳第 4 句。 (b) a particular historical change 明显对应到 industrious revolution，所以没问题。 (c) the implications 显然是指 "it increased women's economic power"，所以也没问题。 7. 最後确定答案是 (D) 以上说明，适用於所有目的题。 最後再强调一次，目的题答案几乎都是往前找一句，除非必要，不要 多看，也不要往後面找答案。 【经典美语】谢忠理 【经典官网】https://classicenglish.com.tw 【经典粉专】https://www.facebook.com/classic.english.tw --
