又到了Kory的CR详解时间,这次想跟大家分享的题目是OG16的112题,希望能带给大家一些思考方向,如果同学有任何问题,欢迎和我讨论,
不过也欢迎其他同学"点歌",这样我就知道之後CR详解时间要分享哪些题目罗!
112. Theater Critic: The play La Finestrina, now at Central Theater, was written in Italy in the eighteenth century. The director claims that this production is as similar to the original production as is possible in a modern theater. Although the actor who plays Harlequin the clown gives a performance very reminiscent of the twentieth-century American comedian Groucho Marx, Marx’s comic style was very much within the comic acting tradition that had begun in sixteenth-century Italy.
The considerations given best serve as part of an argument that
(A) modern audiences would find it hard to tolerate certain characteristics of a historically accurate performance of an eighteenth-century play
(B) Groucho Marx once performed the part of the character Harlequin in La Finestrina
(C) in the United States the training of actors in the twentieth century is based on principles that do not differ radically from those that underlay the training of actors in eighteenth-century Italy
(D) the performance of the actor who plays Harlequin in La Finestrina does not serve as evidence against the director’s claim
(E) the director of La Finestrina must have advised the actor who plays Harlequin to model his performance on comic performances of Groucho Marx
分析:
首先值得注意的是,这题是一个"conclusion"的题型,请特别看懂问句:the considerations given指上面的题干,最能成为下列一个论述的一部分,选项都是that形容词子句後面修饰argument的部分,所以下列的五个选项都是"argument"
接着把题干大概看懂:
有个影评是这麽说的:现在正在中央戏院上演的戏「拉‧芬妮丝崔娜」是18世纪在义大利写成的,这部戏的导演臭屁说这次的制作是在现代戏院里所能呈现最接近原着的一个。"虽然"主演那个哈利坤小丑的演员演戏的风格非常像20世纪的美国喜剧演员果邱‧马克思,"但是"果邱‧马克思的喜剧风格是源自於开始於16世纪义大利的喜剧风格的。
首先值得注意的是,导演有下了一个"判断","这次的制作是在现代戏院里所能呈现最接近原着的一个",同学不妨把这个当然一个结论句:
conditions (根据这个制作的各种条件) ---> 最接近原着 (未知)
往下继续看会发现与其说这题是CR,倒不如说这里更像是RC,请特别注意我用引号帮大家在最後一句话里标注的地方。回头看原题干,对应的就是那个"Although"。反应很快的同学应该已经知道我想讲甚麽了,没错,这句话不就是RC里面我们常常在讨论的"让步句"吗?当然英文里只有"虽然"的部分,没有"但是"的部分,但我很刻意加上去让大家在理解上会更有感觉
再看一次,"虽然"主演那个哈利坤小丑的演员演戏的风格非常像20世纪的美国喜剧演员果邱‧马克思,"但是"果邱‧马克思的喜剧风格是源自於开始於16世纪义大利的喜剧风格的。
接着根据上面有的这些considerations,请你看看下面哪一个argument是可以推得出来的?
(A) modern audiences would find it hard to tolerate certain characteristics of a historically accurate performance of an eighteenth-century play
上面的题干完全没有提到过现代观众如何如何,主角(role)明显偏离,而根据上面所说的我们也推不出他们会不会喜欢以前的风格,主题无关(topic)
(B) Groucho Marx once performed the part of the character Harlequin in La Finestrina
我们哪知道果邱‧马克思之前有没有参与过拉‧芬妮丝崔娜并演出哈利坤(推不出)...而且以时间偏好来说,这个选项明显在讲这个人的过去,不好
(C) in the United States the training of actors in the twentieth century is based on principles that do not differ radically from those that underlay the training of actors in eighteenth-century Italy
这是最混淆的选项,我们已知的条件是果邱‧马克思演戏的风格是从16世纪义大利发展来的,但这样能不能扩大范围说"美国的演员训练都是建立在跟18世纪义大利差不多的原则上?"明显不行,这也是过度推论,另外比较细心的同学应该也注意到了,果邱‧马克思的风格是源自"16世纪",但这个选项说的是"18世纪",以时间年代来说,out of scope
(D) the performance of the actor who plays Harlequin in La Finestrina does not serve as evidence against the director’s claim
正确答案,这个让步句的内容"Although the actor who plays Harlequin the clown gives a performance very reminiscent of the twentieth-century American comedian Groucho Marx, Marx’s comic style was very much within the comic acting tradition that had begun in sixteenth-century Italy."说明了这个演员虽然比较像美国的果邱‧马克思,但果邱‧马克思也的演戏风格也是从义大利来的,所以男主角这点并不会成为反对导演所说""this production is as similar to the original production as is possible in a modern
theater."的呈堂证供,请特别把让步句的概念想清楚:我承认他像美国的果邱‧马克思,但是果邱‧马克思也是从义大利学来的,句子的重心在後面!
(E) the director of La Finestrina must have advised the actor who plays Harlequin to model his performance on comic performances of Groucho Marx
也是过度推论,这个主角演戏演得很像果邱‧马克思,推不出是导演要他去模仿果邱‧马克思的,特别注意武断的must!
