Under the premise of non-charging, indeed I will criticize not only their writing but also the logic consideration and so on. Actually, I totally understand the anxious feeling of PhD students, because I was in that position as well. All of them are stuck in the doctoral course and busying doing research, enrolling courses, and preparing qualify. However, no obvious answer of graduation will be obtained. Without strong mind, some PhD student will turn to escape from unnecessary duties. That is, since my suggestions beyond grammar and writing are not necessary to them, they won’t consider to accept them. I understood this, but I felt unwilling. It ought to be a good chance to help them grow, but it was denied. I met a ridiculous age during my doctoral career. Every scholar all over the world attempted to publish as more as they can. Without a doubt, I also acquired some benefits during this period. Therefore, I published a lot, but most of them are not good. I also believed that the quantity of publication is more important than anything else. However, I changed my mind when I finished my study in Japan. I realized that writing a good one, is definitely better than writing ten running-account-like ones. Because numerous of resources will be delivered for publishing one paper (e.g., reviewing progress, typesetting and printing, and so on), we should treasure each opportunity of publishing. That is, it is everyone’s responsibility to improve the qualities and make sure that your paper is a significant finding. Well, someone might say, “reed, you have acquired some benefits, why can’t I?” I cannot totally deny it, but I’d not like to see those PhD students act willfully to publish with the concept of wasting resources. Well, what I can say is, during the processes of generating those so called “ running-account-like articles”, I still worked hard and learn an adequate way of express my studies using English. I enrolled in Professor Chiou’s lecture, and paid the fee for someone to proof-read my works, by myself. These efforts were already transferred into the skills of technical writing, and those “running accounts” were merely added values. If the writing skill of a PhD student can be exchanged by such social resources, it is still kind of worthy. ….to be continued --
