在1994年电影The Enemy Within判国大阴谋，
大概4分40秒时，
General Lloyd对男主角Colonel Mac Casey抱怨
总统要削减军费。
Lloyd: The president may be a good man,
but he doesn't know shit about national defense.
At least when his wife was alive,
he had a reality barometer,
The way things were going election day,
nobody bothered to ask him about it.
请问最後一句The way things were going election day,
nobody bothered to ask him about it.
好像在说总统继续这样下去，将来选举日他就惨了。
但were和bothered时态好怪，
所以想请教。
