标题[文法] 这句话有文法问题吗?

(前面省略).......or scanning through old photos of when you were a child.
前面的部分，跟我问题无关，所以省略了。 我的问题在後面
photos of when you were a child . (当你还是小时候的那些老照片)
这样的文法有没有问题。 of 後面直接加了个 when 开头的句子。
节录自一位英国作家讲稿，这作家常喜欢用复杂的长句、倒装句。

我一直觉得他 of 和when之间 应该加个 the period 变成 of the period when
如果他把the period 省略，是合乎文法的吗? 这作家偶尔会不按文法出牌
