You could do that when speaking. In any case, the sentence is in the past tense, so "each one corresponding to a different species" means "Each one corresponded to a different species" NOT "Each one was corresponding to a different species." ----------- 但我还是不懂为何"each one corresponding to a different species" 会用-ing的形式？ 还是说因为如同Raymott说的，在一对破折号里头用句子的形式不自然， 因此在这个前提下，原本应该是"Each one corresponded to a different species"， 就改成用独立分词构句的方式呈现了？ --
