标题[请益] why are we stopped 这句的文法？

在看大英雄天团时，有幕是主角们被追杀，却在红绿灯前紧急停车，
有人问了：why are we stopped?
这句看不懂哩，为什麽不是说 why did we stop?
请高手解惑，谢谢！
