标题[文法] 比较级的问题

最近碰到一些关於比较级文法的困惑，手边的书都暂时找不到详解，希望版上高人指点。
一般文法书上关於比较级的文法句型做举例时似乎比较多是前後两句被形容词或副词修饰
的对象是同一种的状况。
像是：He has as much money as I do.
(which is the elliptical construction of "he has as much money as I have much
money.")
或者 He is taller than I am.
(which is the elliptical construction of "he is taller than I am tall.")
或者 He is a better leader than she is.
(which is the elliptical construction of "he is a better leader than she is a
good leader.")
但其实日常英文中常常会出现比较级前後形容词或副词修饰的对象不一的情况，这个似乎
没怎麽看一般课本上提到过(虽然日常口语和文章常常会出现)。
像是：He has more money than sense.
(which is the elliptical construction of "he has more money than he has sense."
)
或者 You were happier than I was sad.
(there is no elliptical construction of this sentence.)
或者 You have more books than I have plates.
(there is no elliptical construction of this sentence.)
或者 He killed twice as many people as I saved.
(which is the elliptical construction of "he killed twice as many people as I
saved people."
或者 You hate me more than I love you.
(there is no elliptical construction of this sentence.)
或者 You are braver than I was scared.
(there is no elliptical construction of this sentence.)
我的问题可以分成这两个：
1.後面这类句子是真的符合一般文法上对於比较级的平行结构的要求吗？我目前的直觉上
是有，像是You were happier than I was sad中的平行结构似乎可以是成立在比较两人
情感强烈的程度上(即使一个难过一个快乐)。
2."We have more water than we have wine."或者"He has more cats than he
has dogs."可以理解，但"He has more money than sense."这个句子虽然使用上大家都
接受，文法上却好像没什麽道理，因为比较级前後，一个是拥有的钱的量的多寡，一个却
是拥有多少理智。如果後面这个句子文法上(不是使用上)是被接受的，那是否
"He has more money than guts." (有钱无胆)也是可行的？
