标题[求译] 爱丽丝梦游仙境中的一句话

原文：
Alice was too small to reach the key on the table. She tried and tried to
climb up the table leg but it was too slippery. When she had tired herself
out with trying, poor little Alice sat down and cried.
问题：
When she had tired herself out with trying,poor....
请问When she had try herself out with trying 这句话该如何翻译？
try out 是 尝试的意思，但是这边用个herself反身代名词，
不懂这边herself的意义和用法，with trying 这边的trying也是当尝试的意思吗？
这样按照字句翻译会变成：当她和尝试一起试着她自己，句意并不通顺。
请指导我，谢谢。
