大家好
我在阅读文章时看到一句子:
The anthropologists say that the number of times red wins is not simply by
chance, but that these results are statistically significant.
我有以下两点疑问
1.文中的wins 和 is 都是动词,为什麽两个动词摆在一起,wins後面没有受词,而wins
的主词是the number of times red吗,觉得很奇怪。
2. but that,查了一下文法书说是用来表示与事实相反,如果是这样前一句不是应该用
should (would, could, might)+VR的形式吗?而且翻译起来语意也不顺。
不知道观念哪边错误了,麻烦帮忙指正

Hill and Barton report that when one contestant is much better than the
other, colour has no effect on the result. However, when there is only a
small difference between them, the effect of colour is sufficient to tip the
balance. The anthropologists say that the number of times red wins is not
simply by chance, but that these results are statistically significant.
