标题[求译] fall-back position

看起来似乎是一个法律用语

Normally, if you want to win support for a suspect you say the authorities
have got the wrong person. In this case, police maintain they have video
evidence of rapes in progress. So, the fall-back position seems to be
that somehow the girl asked for it. Bad fall back position.
我试过一些英英字典和维基查解释，但都没有相关的资料
但是搜寻引擎却很多使用这个字的文章....大概都是新闻
所以这里要怎麽翻译比较好呢?
不可能是退後位置吧...
