在BBC那篇文章里的用法应该是当成距离的换算
因为原题目是:
During the last finacial year, how many kilometers did Tube trains
travel, in terms of trips to the moon and back?
去年间,伦敦地铁所行驶的公里数可以来回月球多少趟?
所以a trip the moon and back 就是指从地球到月球来回一趟的距离
而 I love you to the moon and back 当副词是一种比较夸饰的诗意用法
就像我们中文会说"爱你比海深..比天高"之类的....大概是这样
想到Savege Garden野人花园的一首歌 歌名就叫 To the moon and back
