标题[请益] 这两个句字中的动词时态的形式是否有问题呢?

在一本原文的文法书中看到的 是一封信的内文
"I'm writting these words in English bla bla bla ..." These were the words
I had written in my diary last month.
第二句我觉得用were怪怪的 如果改写成
These are the words I wrote in my diary last month. 我个人感觉比较对
但书中的正解是前者的写法 哪一种比较对呢?
第二句是
When I arrived at the college, everyone seemed concerned about me.
I found that the majority of people here are friendly. 这是书的写法
但我觉得既然用found 那麽後面are是不是要改成were才对呢?
就变成 I found that the majority of people here were friendly.
以第一人称描述过去的事实或状态到现在依然事实
这时候要用过去式还是现在式 常常让我很困惑
虽然不至影响对句子意思的理解
但轮到自己要写的时候却常有一种不确定感 担心自己会写错

我的第一个问题就是该文章开头
第一段就是用整个用引号框起来
"I'am writting these words in English because I need the pratice.At
this moment I am on a airplane over the Pacific Ocean,..(略)...."
第二段就说
These were the words I had written in my diary on the airplane last
month. When I arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport, I was timid and nervous.
...(略)....
那我的问题就是第二段的第一句提到上一段是
"这些是我上个月在飞机上所写在日记里的文字"
我对它的动词时态有些困惑
又譬如说像这样的一句话:"Yes, we can."是欧巴马的竞选口号。
"Yes,we can."is the eletion slogan of Obama. 还是
"Yes,we can."was the eletion slogan of Obama.呢?
