标题[文法] 空英一句

空英本月有这麽一句
Sometimes the things we believe are
holding our families together really aren't.
我的理解是：(Sometimes) [the things]
频率副词 主词
(we believe are holding our families together) (really) [aren't.]
形容词子句 副词 动词
所以形容词子句里的结构原来应该是
we believe [the things] are holding our families together.
这是我目前唯一能想到的解法，但觉得怪怪的地方是
we believe [the things are holding our families together.]
应该後面整个是名词子句作为believe的受词，
能够只把the things作为先行词，而剩下的部分变成形容词子句吗??
或是本句文法其实另有他解??
