Those people were there. 要用关系代名词合并，先找两句有相同的字，1,2句相同的字是 a crash 所以就把第2句的the crash改成关代 that(=which)变成: that chilled the hearts of those people 然後关代要摆在他代替的字(先行词後面)，所以两句就变成 There was a crash that chilled the hearts of those people. 然後再跟第三句合并，两句相同的字是 those people 所以就把第三句的those people用who 来代替就变成 : who were there 然後关代who要摆在它代替的字(those people)後面 所以全句就变成了: There was a crash that chilled the hearts of those who were there. 到这里，应该了解句子的结构了 但是可能还是看不太懂意思 因为关系子句是修饰前面的字 所以翻译要从後面翻过来 those who were there要翻成"在哪里的"那些人 a crash that chilled the hearts of those people 要翻成 : "使那些人不寒而栗的"车祸(空难)，所以这一句是形容词子句喔! 至於 There was a crash. 是国中的句子 老师说它的be动词要看後面的字决定， a crash是单数，所以用was 原句其实是 A crash was there. 倒装之後，要用关代连接比较方便容易... --
