我们可以运用某种方法，帮自己解决生气、愤怒的情况，
而这种方法可以自行运用、也可以找一个人 (facilitator) 帮忙；
a good facilitator will not need to shut the person (指其facilitate的对象)
down out of fear or anxiety,

such facilitators' having been to emotionally intense places themselves.
请问
下半句的
such facilitators' having been to emotionally intense places themselves，
这句子是不是怪怪的呢？
上半句是因为恐惧或焦虑而shut the person down的意思吗？
而shut the person down又是什麽意思呢？
