标题[文法] 形容词开头的副词子句

查奇摩字典 obedient 时, 可以看到他的例句：
We sat down, obedient to the wishes of Oliver.
逗号後面是副词子句，修饰前面的sat，
很少看过这样形容词开头的子句～
这样的文法架构是对的吗？
还是说这个句子省略了一些字？
有没有类似的例句可以参考呢？
