标题[请益] stand up的疑问

我在做题目时有一句：
Michael was upset when he found out that his friends stood him up on purpose.
里面的stood up感觉是一个片语
所以stand up 除了起立的意思之外,还有其它意思吗?
这句话怎麽翻译比较好呢?
