请教各位这一段的语意,
不需要每一个字句都翻译,
我想请问文章传达的意思是什麽?
又该如何用中文表达呢?

(文章来自一本给小小孩看的小故事书)
求中译：属段落：
"Remember, lad," said the newt, "if it's going to be tomorrow,
it might as well be today. And if it is today, it could have
been yesterday. If it was yesterday, then you're over and done
with it, and can write your own book. Think about that."
我的试译：（求译「段落」者，本栏请勿留白）
蝾螈说:[小兄弟,记着,如果它将在明天成行,那麽它也可能会是今天.
而如果它是今天,那麽它也可能已经变成昨天.如果已经成为昨日,那麽
你已经完成它了,然後你就能写下你自己冒险过程的书.想一想吧.]
提问：
其实,我看不懂这段在表达什麽.
所以我只是把字面上的意思翻译一下,
我完全没有抓到重点,
想请各位帮我看看the newt 到底想说些什麽好吗?
