The respiratory EMG acquisition system was developed using an MSP430
microprocessor as the central processing unit. In addition to acquiring and
processing EMG signals, the system is also able to eliminate ECG
interference from diaphragmatic EMG. Physiological data including respiratory
rate, heart rate and heart rate variability can be computed directly from
the acquired EMG and then exported to external computers using a standard
USB interface. This design facilates subsequent and more sophisticated data
processing such as zero-cross rate and power spectrum analysis.
