标题[请益] 请帮小弟看这句子是否正确?

It's merciful of those to support the abrogation of capital punishment for
the sake of murderers and we can see this from their efforts trying to make
this materialize.
这句子是一位大大帮忙时所写的，
但是这类的用法小弟较为陌生，
例如 It's merciful of those 这边，
为何形容词後面加of?
还有，sake of murderers这边要翻成凶手的缘由吗?
但这样翻，语意似乎怪怪的。
