He suffered the injury when William Gallas accidentally trod on his leg as the pair dealt successfully with a James Beattie attack. “I went for the ball and I felt the pain and at first I thought my leg was broken,” recalls Cech. “But fortunately after that I was able to stand up. There was still ten minutes to go so I thought I’d try and stay until the end of the first-half.
