今天是很绕口令的Clover Over Dover～ 这首歌最让我印象深刻的是开头的前奏，那个 弹奏的乐器声音非常古典，这声音让我对这首 歌的印象非常深刻。在翻译这首歌找资料的时 候才知道，这一段前奏是由Damon弹奏「大 键琴」而来的，大键琴和钢琴的发声原理不 同，是非常古老传统的乐器，这让我想到先前 在看BBC关於Damon纪录片的时候看到，他 搬到Colchester时常去的教堂里面有管风琴， 他也很常在里面弹奏。也许正是这份古典音乐 的薰陶成就了Damon这麽多变的曲风吧～ 除此之外，所谓Brit-pop是场以英国文化底蕴 企图向美式摇滚宣战的背景也在歌词中可以感 觉到一二。第二段歌词中的roll in the clover 其实是在二战时期(1944)年左右非常风行的 一首民歌：Roll Me Over in the Clover，这首 歌的原意完全是具有性意味的歌，内容主要说 的是女主角以第一人称视角说明十次鱼水之欢 的经过，非常直白的一首民谣XD。因此由此 可知在这里第二段的一二两句大概是想要和对 方一次又一次的翻云覆雨，在这里是以一种转 折的形式存在。但来到第四段，Damon运用 了类比对仗的方式在最後一句写下了，「当你 将我推落之时，别埋葬我，这不值得」，我们 可以确认这首歌的确是偏向自我毁灭的情歌。 总而言之，这首歌我认为非常有意思，前奏巴 洛可式的古典键琴+英国地名+悲剧男主角 +英国民谣的组合，即使是一首放在接近专辑 尾声的歌曲，也可以明显地发现这首歌的企图 心。 下面歌词翻译喔！ Clover Over Dover I'm on the White Cliffs of Dover Thinking it over and over But if I jump it's all over A cautionary tale for you 我在多佛白断崖边 反覆思考一遍一遍 若我跳下终结一切 成为你的警世寓言 I'd like to roll in the clover With you over and over On the White Cliffs of Dover And then I'd let you push me over 想在三叶草地滚动 在你身边一遍一遍 就在多佛白断崖边 我愿意让你推倒我 If that is the fact, then in actual fact It's not where it's at And it's over Oh-oh, if that is the fact, then in actual fact It's not where it's at It's all over Yes it is 若这是真实 那就是事实 这将不再存在於此 且都已结束 喔喔 若这是真实 那就是事实 这将不再存在於此 且都已结束 是的 And now the bluebirds are over Over the White Cliffs of Dover And when you push me over Don't bury me I'm not worth anything 而现在青鸟已离去 离开多佛白断崖边 当你将我推落之时 别埋葬我 这不值得 If that is the fact, then in actual fact It's not where it's at And it's over Oh-oh, if that is the fact, then in actual fact It's not where it's at It's all over Yes it is 若这是真实 那就是事实 这将不再存在於此 且都已结束 喔喔 若这是真实 那就是事实 这将不再存在於此 且都已结束 是的 --
