Klopp hopes to have Hummels, Schmelzer and Reus fit for the Cup tie in Munich
The games keep coming thick and fast for Borussia Dortmund as they embark on
the third leg of what Klopp described as the "shortest of all football weeks!"
Following trips to Naples and then Nuremberg on Saturday, BVB take the stage
once again on Tuesday when they travel to face TSV 1860 Munich in the second
round of the German (DFB) Cup (kick off 1900CET).
Klopp continued, "It is no easy task because 1860 have a good team and are
looking for promotion from the second division. Of course, we are favourites
to progress. I am looking forward to the game; it’s a tough challenge but one
we relish."
The so-called "Lions" have won three of their four home games and are looking
onwards and upwards, in the Cup, too! Klopp will spend the next couple of days
studying footage and data on his opponents, but is calm, "We will be prepared,
we will have a look at them and see what’s what."
The coach wasn’t able to draw any firm conclusions regarding player
availability on Sunday morning. While Mats Hummels showed encouraging signs
during gentle training, his fitness still remains as uncertain as does that of
Marco Reus ("He’s much better today, but still some way off from match-fit").
Marcel Schmelzer’s thigh injury has shown signs of improvement too. Both he
and Reus picked up those knocks in a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Nuremberg on
Saturday.
Hummels,Reus,Schmelzer的伤情都有相当的改善,但应该还是没恢复到可比赛的程度
