Jason Quick squeezed a good nugget in the notes section of his article today regarding Nate McMillan's vision of the starting and reserve units heading into next season: If the season started today, McMillan said he would envision a starting unit of Steve Blake, Brandon Roy, Martell Webster, LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden. But with Bayless and Fernandez adept at attacking the basket, and Frye's ability to pick and pop, Outlaw's scoring doesn't seem to be as necessary with this group as it was last year. Another point to notice, is McMillan seems to be preparing for next season as if James Jones will not return (and at a reported asking price of 5 years/$25M, I don't blame him). Jones brought timely outside shooting the Blazers will need from the reserve squad, although Fernandez should contribute in this department. No matter what the starting lineup, as the season grows the finishing lineup I see is: Roy, Fernandez, Outlaw, Aldridge and Oden.
