He is expected to sign a five-year contract and his arrival will provide competition and cover for Emmanuel Eboue at right-back. The future of Cesc Fabregas, meanwhile, is expected to become clearer in the next two days. Reports in Spain continue to link him with a move to Real Madrid after the club's sporting director, Predrag Mijatovic, and new coach, Bernd Schuster, both expressed their admiration this week. Arsenal, though, have been reassured by comments from Fabregas' agent, Joseba Diaz,who has linked the Spanish midfielder's future to that of Wenger. Fabregas has a contract until 2014 and the club are also confident that Wenger will extend his own contract which expires next year. Talks have continued over Freddie Ljungberg's possible ￡5.5m move to Fiorentina.
