关於歌名 "Brian-storm" 其实是从另一个英文字 "Brain-storm" 而来，原有「脑力激荡；集思广益」的意思 而字尾 "storm" 则意指「风暴」 所以这首歌名被动过手脚的开场曲，或可直译为「布莱恩旋风」 这样戏耍谐音字，扰乱视觉认知的游戏除了趣味、创新效果之外 也不无 Al 一贯对於「表象」「成规」质疑的意味 (不留意的话我们还是会根据刻板印象，把这首歌名看成叫成 "Brain-storm":P) 歌曲大意诠释 藉由既欣羡又嘲讽的叙事口吻，Al 生动的传达了一个闷骚的人(咳咳，就是他自己!) 对於 Brian 这类特立独行又吃得开的家伙，羡慕向往却始终保持距离的不同挂心态 同时也对周遭被 Brian 外表装扮、行为举止吃得死死甚至被利用的男男女女 作出了冷眼的批判观察 因此称 Brian 为 "storm" 这样的夸饰法 一方面突显了他的为所欲为 另一方面更嘲讽了轻易被他「暴风圈」(外在的虚张声势?)虏获的盲目人们 翻译 Brian, Top marks for not trying, So kind of you to bless us with your effortlessness We’re grateful and so strangely comforted And I wonder, Are you putting us under? "We're grateful and so STRANGELY COMFORTED" 不觉得 Al 唱这句的口气很耐人寻味吗^^|| 注 2) "Innovator" 唱片公司翻成「世纪怪咖」有好有坏 好的是「世纪」有把那种开创的气势翻出来 坏的是「怪咖」偏向边缘负面，而 Brian 明显是很受欢迎的人物 所以想破头我选择结合「世纪」和另一个赞词「鬼才」 Some want to kiss some want to kick you There's not a net you couldn't slip through Or at least that's the impression I get cos you're smooth and you're wet And she's not aware yet, but she's yours 有人爱死你，有人恨死你 总之没有你吃不开的地方 至少这是我粗浅的印象 因为你圆滑又善变 而那边的正妹还没发觉，但她迟早是你的了 注 3) 用 "wet" 来形容人，我查到字典的意义如下 [Person] BrE unable to make decisions or take firm actions 所以我翻成「善变」 She'll be saying "Use me, show me the Jacuzzi" I imagine that it's there on a plate, your high rendezvous rate Means you'll never be frightened to make 'em wait for a while I doubt it's your style not to get what you set out to acquire The eyes are on fire you are the un-forecasted storm 她不久就会巴着你说「利用我吧，带我去按摩浴池那里」 我想依你热门的程度，一切都犹如盘中物 就像你从来都不怕让人家痴等你 我怀疑照你的风格，怎麽可能会不去得到你想要的 你的双眼早就蓄势待发般的着火，你是无预警的暴风 注 4) "it's there on a plate, your high rendezvous rate" 很难翻 我只能凭藉 "high rendezvous rate"「很高的约会次数程度」 来推敲 "it's there on a plate" 到底是什麽 orz 注 5) "I doubt it's your style not to get what you set out to acquire" 完全直译如下:我怀疑你的风格会不去得到你预定要得到的东西 Calm, collected and commanding, you leave the other stories standing With your renditions and jokes I bet there's hundreds of blokes That have wept because you've stolen their.......Thunder Are you putting us under? Cos we can't take our eyes off the t-shirt and tie's combination See you later Innovator! 冷静、自持又威风凛凛，你让所有其他的故事相形失色 以你的说学逗唱和玩笑，我打赌那一群家伙早就被台风尾扫到不见 因为你一人就偷走了所有的...风采掌声 你是不是对我们施了什麽魔法*[m 因为我们的眼光丝毫离不开，你那T恤加领带的搭配 世纪鬼才，待会见罗! 注 6) 这段把 "storm" 的比喻发挥到极致，又是 "wept" 又是 "thunder" 另外比较难翻译的是 "renditions" 原来有「表演；演奏」之意 这边可视为 Brian 的才华，或者是说他整个人的行为举止就像一个表演 所以我有点折衷的翻成学说学逗唱，可能还是少了一点「表演」「表象」的感觉 卡拉OK心得 唱这首歌最好玩的地方就是模仿 Al 贱贱的奉承语气:D 表面上在赞颂，骨子里却忍不住透露出一丝怀疑和轻蔑(对 Brian 也对周遭的人) 还有几个字每每唱到都莫名觉得很妙 像是 "effortlessness" 意思是「完全没费力」可是唱起来那麽多音节却很矛盾 "strangely comforted" 也是一绝，哈哈我超爱那个尾音 "ed" "un-forecasted storm" 故作性感然後吼一声真爽 "Calm, Collected and Commanding" 三个「头韵」铿锵有力节奏感十足 不过当然最嗨的还是最後那个"that have wept 'cause you've stolen their...Thunder" 那个 "Thunder" 口吻超微妙的，感觉在那一刻 Al 自爽的化身成为了 Brian 而 "See you later Innovator!"也是 Al 的招牌「顿音」 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cheers!
