And yesterday Taiwanese students protested the visit of Chinese envoy
Zhang Mingqing. The Taiwanese protesters were angered over the Chinese
communist party's claim that Taiwan is a rogue province. According to
the BBC, at one point protesters pushed the envoy to the ground and
attacked his car. Here's more.
STORY:
Taiwan riot police clashed with campus activists who protested a Chinese
officials visit on Monday.
Vice chairman of China's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits
, Zhang Mingqing was invited to attend an academic conference in Tainan.
But his visit did not go so smoothly. About 200 demonstrators shouted at
him to go back to China at the Tainan National University of Arts.
City councilor from the southern city of Tainan, Wang Ting-Yu organized
the demonstration.
[Taiwanese Student Protester]:
"I think Zhang Mingqing oppresses Taiwan in many ways. He should first
apologize about the tainted milk, and understand that Taiwan is not
part of China, before giving a speech in Taiwan. Without understanding
this, how can he communicate with Taiwanese people? We want him to know
that without an apology, he cannot communicate with us."
The Chinese regime claimed sovereignty over self-ruled Taiwan since the
end of the Chinese civil war in 1949. It vowed to bring the island back
under its rule, by force if necessary.
Although Taiwans president has improved trade and transit ties with China,
many Taiwan citizens continue to distrust Beijing.

難道身邊圍一堆抗議的人，還會有興致台南一日遊
為什麼還一定要遊台南孔廟，中共紅衛兵文革時不是得意的「打倒孔夫子」
大概是孔夫子顯靈，所以他才會跌倒...:p
