in a moment i'll get out of bed, bundle myself up in three layers of clothing, go line up at the starbucks down the street for my morning cappuccino, enduring that campy elf hat adorning the head of the barrista complementing her forced smile if she's not too busy to give one. walking back, hands trying to protect my cup from the cold, i'll see schoolkids on their way to drudgery today with a somewhat lighter heart and gifts and cards tucked into their schoolbags. ~MERRY CHRISTMAS~ will shout the display of a passing bus, as if i didn't own a calendar or were living under a rock. the cop at the intersection will conduct traffic with oversized candy-cane sticks. passing under an arcade, i'll look up: mistletoe, right underneath a speaker blaring baby-boomer christmas muzak because nothing says (or croons, heaven forbid) Christmas! better than recycled One-Day-A-Year-Low-Prices!- Come-Get-It-While-It-Lasts!-Christmas-Clearance-Sale! -announcing commercialized earworms. i'll get up in a minute to face Christmas! plastered on billboards and banners and metro ads and tv commercials and posters and flyers, everywhere selling some- thing or some-event or some-ideology or some-bullshit, none of them really getting it or getting down to it and saying simply Christmas. sleep dissipating, this is what i foresee: Christmas, turned into Christmas!, leaving me only christmas. another ten minutes wouldn't hurt . . . . -- 英語文工作室 http://www.wretch.cc/blog/jsengstudio/ 個板 defenestrate --
