※ 引述《BBEN (ㄚ楠)》之銘言： : 1 When I consider how my light is spent : 推 dale:Milton, Sonnet XIX──如果不會太麻煩， 203.121.132.79 12/22 : 推 dale:希望以後可以幫忙附上，謝謝。:) 203.121.132.79 12/22 : 推 Chiwaku:To His Blindness 140.119.199.139 12/23 1645 年 Milton 有一本詩集問世, 名字叫 Poems of Mr John Milton, Both English and Latin. 其中有 10 首 sonnets 後來在 1673 再版時, 又加了一些詩, 其中有 9 首 sonnets "When I consider how my light is spent" 就是其中一首. 另外有 4 首 sonnets 是在他死後才出版. 後來有些編輯 Milton's works 的書就依推測年份把這些 sonnets 統整編號, 所謂的 Sonnet 19 便是這樣來的. 但另外有些 editors (主要都是 new historicists) 認為這並不妥, 所以把 1645 年版的詩, 跟後來再版加入的詩分開, 當然 uncollected poems 也獨立一組 因此編號就不一樣. 如 Stephen Orgel & Jonathan Goldberg 的 Oxford edition (1991) 這首詩是 sonnet 16. Milton 的 sonnets 跟 Sidney, Spenser, Shakespeare 一樣, 都是沒有 titles 的 至於 "To His Blindness" 的 title (or subtitle) 則是 18 世紀後人加上的.
