The Gentle Cold
The sweeping cold seeped into my lungs
Revitalizing memories and momentary
feelings of nostalgic reprise
The overpowering chill of the room
invaded my toes and took charge of my mind.
I cherished the cold air and exhaled a refreshing frost.
The cold air is like a cigarette to my lips
The very process of inhaling is a wonderful satisfaction
My breath comes out clouded like smoke
As I take a hit from the freezing wind.
I am so in love with the frigid cool yet so alone
That this glacial circulation of outside air
Caresses my entire self while embracing a state of remembrance
Reviving old somehthings and someones from my wintry past.
December memories flow through behind my eyes.
Throwing snowballs, wartime snowforts, sledding sheer downhill,
Gentle flurries, legs and legs of feet, icy graveyards of the deep
Rosy cheeks, frozen toes, and the warm rebirth from a fireplace.
The gentle cold holds me through the night
Placing its arms around me
Hugging me in my blanket warmth
Not to freeze me but to appease my icy love affair.
