If hunger pushes very hard your back,
Or just the fragrance tempts your legs to run,
You have enough to get the food of fun,
To live the life with filling all your sack.
And taste it, softly feel it well, attack
The crust, be slow enough from moon to sun,
Remember victuals only dance on tongue
And fall in throat, away, and never smack.
So swallow later! Nothing good to speed!
If there is time to savor, O, prolong!
Behind the saddest merry gate, good bye!
The beauty dies-the food is now but feed.
So stop if fast, however sweet the song-
But stop to fast, or he revives, you die.
